Elephants

Large Land Mammals /

Elephants are the largest land mammals weighing as high as twelve tons. There are three living species of elephant. The African bush elephant, the African forest elephant and the Asian elephant (also known as the Indian elephant). Each subspecies is endangered mostly due to hunting, sometimes  just for their ivory tusks. They have long been considered a symbol for Asian and African countries, and are often times considered holy. They  are famed for their memory and intelligence, where their intelligence level is thought to be equal to that of dolphins and primates.
